Port Hope: “Waitress” begins performances at the Capitol Theatre on June 13
Thursday, June 5, 2025
Waitress tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage by entering a pie competition. But when she meets her new doctor, her plans get more complicated, and sugar, butter, and flour simply won’t solve this conundrum.
Featuring music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles, Waitress is the hit musical that’s “a little slice of heaven” (Entertainment Weekly).
Originally based on the motion picture by Adrienne Shelly, the music and lyrics were developed by Sara Bareilles with the book by Jessie Nelson. After an incredibly successful five year run on Broadway the show closed in 2020 but has continued to tour globally since.
