Theatre Ya Knowww presents FYRE August 29-31

FYRE is an influencer dystopia based on Eugene O’Neill’s Thirst and the real-life collapse of Fyre Festival.

FYRE is a one-act play where survival meets performance, and clout can’t save you. It’s a bold, satirical, emotionally gripping show where three people—an influencer, a dancer, and a festival worker—are stranded in the wreckage of a failed luxury event.

FYRE is a devised adaptation of Eugene O'Neill's THIRST inspired by the real life disastrous events of the Fyre Festival in April of 2017. Only 8 years ago, roughly 5,000 attendees flew to the Bahamas expecting a luxurious music festival after paying upwards of $12,000 for VIP packages, and instead faced unsafe environments, untrusting medical services and low-end pre-packages foods.

In a contemporary post-pandemic world where technology rules our lives, we're all looking for connection and celebration. We feel that want in extremes, similiar to starvation, suffocation, and thirst. FYRE explores an environment where that manipulative hold of social media will deteriorate, and through elements such as digital projection, puppetry, and devised theatre, real life experiences will fictionalize into something surreal, but grounded in truth.

Theatre Ya Knoww invites you to experience community and connection in the outdoor Gallanough Amphitheatre. We invite you to uncover truths about the Fyre Festival, not only the manipulation of the attending influencers, but the detrimental impacts the festival had on the livelihoods of the locals in the Bahamas. We invite you to look up and fight back in a world of chaos and advocate for yourself.
