What do five disastrous dates and the next generation of theatre talent have in common? Dating Games.

This November, Theatre Aezir proudly presents Dating Games by Garth Wingfield — five short plays, each a comically terrible first date gone off the rails. But the real story is happening offstage: this is also a groundbreaking training initiative for emerging directors.

Each play will be helmed by a new voice in theatre, paired with a professional mentor to guide them through the full rehearsal-to-performance process. It’s hands-on, high-stakes, real-world learning — and it’s exactly what our region’s theatre scene needs.

Actors will be cast from the local community and sharpen their skills through a workshops in movement, diction, and vocal production. Our creative team of professional stage and design artists will support every moment — from lights up to final bow.

This is more than a show. It’s a full-spectrum, community-rooted initiative combining mentorship, training and performance — with a dash of heartbreak comedy.
