Toronto: Crows’ Theatre announces the cast of “The Christmas Market”

We’re excited to announce the cast of THE CHRISTMAS MARKET, a new play by Dora Award-winning playwright Kanika Ambrose (our place, Truth), directed by Philip Akin (Fat Ham, Heroes of the Fourth Turning), on stage November 4 to 30.

Far from home, three Caribbean migrant workers carve out a sense of belonging in an unfamiliar—and often unforgiving—landscape. 

In the quiet moments between shifts, they discover unexpected friendship, forging unshakeable bonds through their humour, grit, and shared determination to survive their first Canadian winter.

Razor-sharp, funny, and unflinching, The Christmas Market is a powerful exploration of community resilience and the hope created by found family.

Now, get to know the four remarkable actors who will bring this story to life:

Danté Prince as Lionel

A Scarborough native, Danté Prince is an actor and playwright devoted to the craft of storytelling. Rcent stage work includes Measure for Measure (Crow’s / House + Body), The Last Timbit and Dixon Road (Musical Stage Company / Obsidian).

Savion Roach as Roy

Savion Roach is a Scarborough-born multidisciplinary artist. Stage credits include: Gloria (Crow’s), Get That Hope (Stratford), Is God Is (Obsidian / CanStage / NAC / Necessary Angel), and Choir Boy (Canadian Stage/Arts Club).

Matthew G Brown as Joe

Matthew G Brown is no stranger to the stage with credits including Romeo and Juliet (Dream in High Park), Is God Is (CanStage / Obsidian / Necessary Angel / NAC), Controlled Damage (Neptune / NAC) and multiple productions at the Stratford Festival.

Brenda Robins as Ryan

An award-winning actor (Dora, Sterling, Jessie and MECCA), Brenda Robins has performed extensively across Canada. Selected credits include Steel Magnolias (Capitol Theatre), The Children (Belfry Theatre), and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Citadel Theatre / RMTC / Grand). She has also been a company member at both the Shaw and Stratford Festivals.
