Toronto: Darkfield brings two acclaimed immersive audio experiences to Toronto

Wednesday, September 24, 2025

Two internationally acclaimed DARKFIELD experiences, SÉANCE and FLIGHT, land at STACKT Market this fall, officially opening October 4 as part of STACKT’s Opening Night of ART MONTH, which aligns with the City of Toronto’s Nuit Blanche - an all-night celebration of contemporary art. Staged inside purpose-built 40-foot shipping containers, these genre-defying works use complete darkness, 360° binaural audio and precisely timed physical/environmental effects to create psychologically charged alternate realities.

Presented by Realscape Productions in association with DARKFIELD (UK), the Toronto season brings two of the company’s most toured experiences to Canada for the first time. With over 700,000 attendees worldwide and appearances of their work at Venice Film Festival, Tribeca, SXSW, and Edinburgh Fringe, DARKFIELD now invites Toronto to step inside the dark.

“The productions are ideal for anyone who loves the thrill of multisensory entertainment and immersing themselves in the unknown.” - Amy Johnson, Realscape Productions

“At STACKT, we’re proud to support the arts and bring bold, one-of-a-kind experiences to Toronto. DARKFIELD pushes boundaries, captivates the senses, and it’s absolutely not to be missed.” - Jessica Lynch, Vice President

SHOW DETAILS:

SÉANCE

Runtime: 16 minutes (allow 20)

Step inside a long parlour room, take your seat at the séance table… and don’t get comfortable. In total darkness, suggestion takes hold; the boundary between imagination and reality begins to blur.

“It’s skin-tingling, breath-quickening stuff.” — The Stage

FLIGHT

Runtime: 22 minutes (allow 25)

Two realities. Two outcomes. One unsettling question: what if both are true? Inspired by the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, FLIGHT tracks parallel versions of the same journey. A meticulously crafted cabin environment, turbulence cues, and immersive-audio storytelling invite audiences to confront the choices (and chances) that define our paths.

“Perfectly programmed high-art… a reminder of one’s closeness at all times to death that spits you out into the sunlight feeling palpably, certainly, alive.” — Exeunt Magazine
