Monday, September 22, 2025

ProArteDanza returns with its Fall 2025 Season, taking place from October 30 to November 2 at the Betty Oliphant Theatre (404 Jarvis St., Toronto). Featuring award-winning choreographers, the season promises bold premieres and powerful performances.

ProArteDanza lives up to its motto of passion in performance.” Michael Crabb, Dance Critic at the Toronto Star.

This season marks a powerful return to ProArteDanza’s roots, as the company revisits the venue of its very first season after the closure of the Fleck Dance Theatre. The program features three dynamic works that highlight the breadth of contemporary dance today:

A new ensemble work by Artistic Director Roberto Campanella, created for the company’s extraordinary dancers. Whose accolades include the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding Choreography, the Bonnie Bird Choreography Award nomination, and the Fellowship Initiative Award. Beyond the stage, he is also recognized for his film and television work, including The Strain and the Oscar-winning The Shape of Water.

A trio by acclaimed choreographer Kevin O’Day, whose international career includes commissions for leading companies worldwide. He has created over seventy ballets for leading companies worldwide, including New York City Ballet and Les Grands Ballet Canadiens. His honours include a Dora Award nomination, the Koerner Award from the Banff Centre, and an MTV Video Music Award nomination for choreography.

A piece for six dancers by Dominique Dumais, making her long-awaited ProArteDanza debut. Dumais, Artistic Director of Mainfranken Theater Würzburg and a former soloist with the National Ballet of Canada, has created over 45 works that have been performed internationally. Known for full-length pieces like Frida Kahlo and The Little Prince, she has choreographed for major companies worldwide and is a three-time Dora Mavor Moore Award nominee.

“We’re thrilled to come full circle, back to where it all began at the Betty Oliphant Theatre,” says Artistic Director Roberto Campanella. “This season feels both nostalgic and full of possibility. I’m excited to share new and revived collaborations with our audiences and to continue pushing the boundaries of what dance can be.”

Recognized for its motto of “passion in performance,” ProArteDanza has presented over 40 original works since its founding in 2004 and continues to be a vital force in Canadian dance. The company’s blend of bold innovation and deep artistry has earned both critical acclaim and loyal audiences.
