Theatre Passe Muraille is proud to bring to the stage What Brings You In, a genre-defying confessional concert experience created and performed by violinist Leslie Ting, onstage October 17 – 25, 2025. A partnership between Leslie Ting Production and Theatre Passe Muraille, this work blurs the lines between concert, therapy, and theatre, inviting the audience’s listening to become a transformative act.

Based on interview research and personal experiences with talk therapy, hypnotherapy, dreamwork, sandplay, somatics, and Reiki, What Brings You In explores when and where our truest selves emerge through sound. The words “what brings you in” are treated both as a question and as an offering: what brings us into a performance venue or communal space, and what brings us inward to discover more about ourselves through listening?

The performance features experimental new-music compositions which are performed by Germaine Liu (percussion) and Ting (violin). As well, the online experience has audiences play with online interactions, while experiencing a live broadcast of the in-person performance.

Created in collaboration with Blind and Low Vision artists, the piece shifts the focus away from sight and encourages audiences to listen more deeply.

What Brings You In will be offered online and in person! What Brings You In (Online) is experienced through an interactive web-app designed by EMMA Technology Cooperative, where online audiences experience a live broadcast performance simultaneously to the in-person performance at Theatre Passe Muraille.

What Brings You In (Online) invites audiences to step inward. This live digital gathering encourages you to disengage from the visual and explore through listening. Together in a shared online space, we ask: What brings you in to gather for an online performance in a communal digital space. What might we find together? This will be a live broadcast of the in-person performance, delivered through a custom interactive web-app with sound-based online interactions using your cursor or touchscreen.

How to Attend:

To best experience What Brings You In (Online), you'll need a computer or mobile device with a reliable internet connection. We highly recommend using headphones to have the best audio experience!
