Toronto: Young People’s Theatre presents “Love You Forever And More Munsch” February 19-March 21
Saturday, January 17, 2026

Young People’s Theatre (YPT) is thrilled to bring the beloved world of Robert Munsch to the stage in the upcoming Love You Forever And More Munsch. This fantastical adaptation weaves five timeless tales from Canada’s best-loved storyteller into one whimsical, laugh-out-loud journey. Celebrating the funny frustrations and joyful chaos of childhood, it’s perfect for ages 4-9 (JK-Gr. 3) and their nostalgic grownups. This must-see production leaps onto the Ada Slaight Stage from Feb. 19 to Mar. 21, 2026.
Under the co-direction of Stephen Colella (YPT’s Associate Artistic Director and Literary Manager) and Karen Gilodo (YPT’s Associate Artistic Director, Learning), the play brings to life a vibrant medley of classics: "The Paper Bag Princess"; "Murmel, Murmel, Murmel"; “Zoom!"; "Love You Forever"; and “Mortimer".
“In this production, the story of Mortimer serves as the heart of the show— it’s his imagination that breathes life into the other stories,” says Co-Director Stephen Colella who also co-adapted the play with Canadian playwright and educator Sue Miner. “All these tales are delightfully zany, but they’re also real. Because they have truth at their core, families can have fun enjoying the fantastical elements while still feeling that spark of recognition,” says Colella.
Originally premiering at YPT in 2008, Love You Forever And More Munsch returns as a cornerstone of YPT’s 60th anniversary season. A Dora Mavor Moore Award winner for Outstanding TYA Production, this revived classic honours YPT’s six-decade legacy of delivering powerful, high-quality theatre for young audiences.
For the co-directors, revisiting Munsch’s work in 2026 feels more essential than ever, offering a timely celebration of the joyful messiness of family life.
“Robert Munsch has created a world where life is messy and everyone is trying their best—and that is so relatable for today’s kids and parents alike,” says Co-Director Karen Gilodo. “This production opens up a space for families to see glimpses of their own beautiful, chaotic lives on stage and simply enjoy the silliness together."
The production features a dynamic three-person ensemble: Amy Lee as Mother, Megan Murphy as Sister and David Andrew Reid as Mortimer.
Additional credits include: Set and Props Designer: Robin Fisher; Costume Designer: Jung A. Im; Lighting Designer: Jareth Li; Sound Designer: Olivia Wheeler; Stage Manager: Sandi Becker; Associate Stage Manager: Sarah Weinstein.
