Toronto: Tickets for Opera Atelier’s “Pelléas et Mélisande” are now on sale

Wednesday, February 18, 2026

Based on the symbolist play by Maurice Maeterlinck, Pelléas et Mélisande unfolds in a shadowed forest where a chance encounter with a weeping woman sets into motion a story suspended between dream and reality.

As Director Marshall Pynkoski shares:

“Debussy’s impressionist masterpiece lifts us out of the parameters of life as we know it and projects us into a world in which dreams collide with reality.”

In a bold artistic step forward, this production marks the latest repertoire ever undertaken by both Opera Atelier and Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. The score has been newly reorchestrated by Dr. Christopher Bagan, merging Debussy’s luminous sound with the colour and character of a period orchestra steeped in 17th-century French tradition.

The fully staged production will transform Koerner Hall through the Jerry and Joan Lozinski Opera Atelier Reimagined Project, creating an immersive performance environment unlike anything you’ve experienced before.

Conducted by David Fallis, and featuring the Artists of Atelier Ballet under the choreography of Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg, the cast includes:

Measha Brueggergosman-Lee — Geneviève

Parker Clements — Doctor

Meghan Lindsay — Mélisande

Antonin Rondepierre — Pelléas

Philippe Sly — Arkel

Cynthia Smithers — Yniold

Douglas Williams — Golaud
