Toronto: “Boys With Cars” by Anita Majumdar plays April 16 and 18 at Young People’s Theatre

Saturday, March 14, 2026

Don't miss this fierce production for teen audiences exploring the complex world of high school relationships. The story follows Naz, a South Asian-Canadian girl, trying desperately to fit in with her peers in a predominantly white suburban high school where cultures clash and fitting in can come at a serious price.

Get ready for raw honesty and a mesmerizing performance from Anita Majumdar who portrays multiple roles while confronting the messy realities of privilege, power, and consent.

Fusing theatre and classical Indian dance (along with a dash of humour!) this fearless production is set to a high-energy soundtrack of Bollywood bangers, classical Indian music, and hip-hop beats.

Content Advisory:

The characters speak in authentic teenage voices, using coarse language including swearing, as well as sexually explicit terminology. In the course of the story a character recounts a sexual assault perpetrated by a popular boy.

Dora Mavor Moore Award Winner for Outstanding New Play and Outstanding Performance for Anita Majumdar (2017).
