Toronto: Museum of Toronto presents “Toronto Confessions: Love It or Hate It” at The Second City May 14
Thursday, April 23, 2026
Museum of Toronto is bringing the city’s stories to the stage with Toronto Confessions: Love It or Hate It, a live storytelling event taking place at The Second City Toronto on May 14 at 7:00 PM.
As Toronto continues to evolve, questions of identity, belonging, and shared experience are more relevant than ever. Museum of Toronto exists to connect people to the city and to each other through these stories. Toronto Confessions: Love It or Hate It brings that mission to life in a new format, inviting audiences into an open and unfiltered conversation about what defines Toronto today.
Hosted by Elamin Abdelmahmoud of CBC’s Commotion, the evening brings together an eclectic group of artists, thinkers, and community leaders for candid reflections on life in the city. The lineup includes Marshall Pynkoski of Opera Atelier, Kwame McKenzie of Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), influencer Chris Zou, author Kerry Clare, TV personality Jeanne Beker and international drag performer Tynomi Banks, among others.
Presented live for the first time, Toronto Confessions: Love It or Hate It reflects Museum of Toronto’s collaborative approach to storytelling. Rather than presenting a single narrative, the event brings together diverse voices and perspectives, creating space for dialogue, humour, and honest reflection.
“Toronto is constantly changing, and the way we understand our city needs to evolve with it,” said Heidi Reitmaier, CEO, Museum of Toronto. “Toronto Confessions is about hearing directly from the people who shape this city. It reflects how we work as a museum, capturing the stories of Toronto, past and present, through lived experience.”
Unlike traditional institutions, Museum of Toronto tells the stories of Toronto through close collaboration with communities, artists, and civic storytellers to co-create exhibitions and experiences that reflect the city’s diversity and complexity. Toronto Confessions: Love It or Hate It brings together humour, insight, and a range of perspectives on what it means to live in one of the world’s most dynamic cities.
