The Amateurs, a heartfelt and hilarious origin story, is set in rural Ontario, where a big-dreaming journalist rallies a band of unlikely locals to launch a Shakespeare festival that could save their struggling town and even make theatre history – if they could just get it off the ground.

Performed by Festival company members, directed by Chris Abraham, and presented in collaboration with Crow’s Theatre, this unforgettable one-night-only reading offers a rare first listen to a new television script inspired by the founding of your favourite Shakespeare festival.
