Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen’s satire of the Gothic novel craze, is brought to life in a hilarious, whirlwind production by the director of last year's hit The 39 Steps.

Jane Austen's most dangerously well-read heroine has one problem: she can't quite tell the difference between a novel and real life. When Catherine Morland leaves her quiet village for the glittering social whirl of Bath, she finds friendship, intrigue, and two very persistent admirers. But it's when her travels take her to the brooding Northanger Abbey that Catherine's imagination truly runs riot, uncovering dark corridors, suspicious servants, and evidence of a terrible family secret that threatens to destroy her happiness forever. A whirlwind romantic comedy brought to life by four actors playing over twenty characters, Northanger Abbey is Austen at her most gloriously unhinged.

Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey stars Georgia Findlay (Guild Festival Theatre), Isaiah Kolundzic (Guild Festival Theatre; The Orillia Opera House), Andrew Prashad (Neptune Theatre; Stratford Festival), and Kiana Woo (Theatre Aquarius; Shaw Festival). Andrew Prashad will make his GFT debut in this production, while Georgia Findlay, Isaiah Kolundzic, and Kiana Woo will all be returning to GFT this summer for another whirlwind production by Tyler J. Seguin.

"After the success of last year's production of The 39 Steps, I wanted to see if I could recreate the magic of that show. By reassembling most of the cast, I knew we would be able to play fearlessly, lovingly push each other to new heights, and find comedy in every moment. I spent a lot of time considering which book would make the perfect source material and fell in love with Austen's satire of the gothic novel craze.
