Port Perry: Theatre on the Ridge presents “Sketches by Leacock” August 5–23

Friday, July 31, 2026

In this world premiere, Dora Mavor Moore and Prix Rideau Award-winning actor, director, and playwright, Andy Massingham returns to the Theatre on the Ridge tent for his fifth season. In the family-friendly Sketches of Leacock, the audience takes a stroll through a day in the life of the inhabitants of Stephen Leacock’s fabled and imaginary town of Mariposa and shares the pitfalls and potholes that bedevil us all in an evening of laughter, music and celebration of one of Canada’s literary giants. This adaptation of Leacock’s famous stories is accompanied by original songs composed by Michael Williamson, music creator of last summer’s popular Monsters and Milfoil.

Onstage, Sketches of Leacock features 5 intrepid and talented actors, including Henry Peirson, returning for his fourth season on the Ridge. The remaining ensemble members, Manon Bourgeois, Jenna Hsu, Jane Miller and Blake Pyne make their debut to the tent and bring the daily trials, tribulations and joys of the residents of Mariposa to life.

Performances launch with a public preview on August 5 and the production opens August 6, running to August 23. Showtimes vary through the run, with 7 pm evening shows and matinees at 2 or 4 pm. All performances take place on the grounds of Scugog Shores Museum.

Guided museum tours are also available on select days and group bookings are welcome.
