November, 2011 Toronto, Ontario: Kat Leonard mounts a darker version of A Depper Kind Of Love after failing to lure Johnny Depp to the show during The Toronto Fringe Festival July 2011. This time it’s at The Love And Obsession Festival in Toronto.
Kat is your typical love-struck girl in a world inspired by1980s Madonna. In just an hour Kat takes her audiences on a swirling multimedia extravaganza of love, tears and guffaws.
A Depper Kind Of Love premiered at The Toronto Fringe Festival in conjunction with the release of Kat & The MP3’s debut CD comprised of songs from the show. An online petition and video campaign failed to make Depp’s attendance and the pair remain on non-speaking terms. Now even more, these are songs about loving Johnny Depp and the heartbreak of a shattered dream.
Singer/songwriter Kat Leonard is a graduate of The Second City Conservatory, and she writes and performs in and around Toronto. Director Christopher Sawchyn is one fourth of the comedy group The Specials, and an accomplished director, choreographer and teacher.
