Theatre Collingwood proudly announces the first session of its new Drama Training Program for Teens and Adults will begin in January 2012.
Artistic Director, Steven Thomas will oversee the program curriculum. Says Thomas, “It has been our vision for the past decade to provide a quality drama training program for teens and adults who are truly interested in broadening their core skills.
Drama is an all-encompassing holistic art form, involving all human aspects: physical, intellectual, art, music, history, sociology and culture.
Our mission is to cultivate a passion for the dramatic theatre, through a deeper understanding of the art form.”
The curriculum is designed to enhance individual qualities of self-confidence as well as develop each participant’s acting techniques. The programs will be taught by highly skilled theatre professionals.
The spring term offers two sessions (each 10 weeks in length, 3 hours per class) for Teens (13 – 18) on Saturday afternoons. The first begins January 7 and the second, March 17, 2012.
Adult sessions (also 10 weeks, 3 hours per class) are scheduled on a weeknight to begin January 10 and March 20, 2012.
Each class is limited to 12 participants, and each session will culminate in a demonstration for friends & family.
Experience is not necessary, but a keen interest in dramatic arts and commitment to participate are a must. No audition is required, however an interview with the participant may be requested in advance.
The Government of Ontario currently offers a Children’s Activity Tax Credit for activities such as dramatic arts instruction for youth under 16 years of age. For more information: www.ontario.ca/finance.
