Stage Door News
The ever popular PlayWrights Cabaret celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Over the last nine years, this event has grown while keeping at heart the purpose of showcasing the work of local writers through staged readings in the McManus Studio Theatre.
The Grand Theatre has invited writers from London and the surrounding area to submit short works to be presented as staged readings in the McManus Studio Theatre. Playwrights whose scripts are selected take part in workshops that allow them to further explore the character, story, theme, style, or anything else that might come out of the workshop process. A revised version of their script is then performed as part of a two-day event celebrating the talent of our local playwrights.
The Grand Theatre continues to be committed to developing and encouraging local writers through dramaturgical feedback, workshops, seed grants and commissions.

TRINA BROOKS
Each play I write is a labour of love but this one is especially dear to me. It is dedicated to my father and my crazy family who inspired many of the moments in this piece. Thank you once again to The Grand Theatre for their continued support and encouragement.
LEN CUTHBERT
Len Cuthbert is grateful to The Grand, Susan, Heather, Jeff and Gil for their incredible investment. Most recently, Len's short script, delilah, was produced at LOAF, BoxFest Detroit, Toronto's InspiraTO and NYC's RSP. He plans to develop a new 60-minute version for the 2012 London Fringe. Len is director of the NPO Fridge Door Live Theatre Company. Much love to Rebecca, Fynn & Winona.
CORNELIA HOOGLAND
Faim de Loup (Hungry Wolf) is based on the fairy tale, Red Riding Hood, the subject of Hoogland’s 6th book of poetry, Woods Wolf Girl. This play is shortlisted for the Women Playwrights International this August in Stockholm, Sweden. Hoogland is grateful to Susan Ferley, Gil Garratt, and The Grand Theatre for her 6 appearances at PC, also special thanks to Jeff Culbert. Without their support this play wouldn’t exist.
JOHN KRISAK
John Krisak has had his work presented in five previous Cabarets.
MONIKA LEE
Monika Lee is author of gravity loves the body: poems by monika lee (2008), the poetry chapbook, slender threads (2004), and Rousseau’s Impact on Shelley: Figuring the Written Self (1999). Her most recent production in London was the play BrideZombie, directed by Matt Loop with Channel Surfing Productions, which she wrote and starred in for Hallowe'en 2010's Double Play.
ALAN POWELL
An international multiple award-winning film director, Alan also has written and directed for TV, commissioned documentaries, and docu-dramas. He is slated to direct Jessica Pare, Emily Van Camp and Andrew Walker in the feature film Divided Highway. Recently Alan delved into the world of digital media and is currently developing an online interactive educational documentary.
