Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, January 11, 2012 . . . The Shaw Festival Box Office is now open for online, mail and fax orders from the general public for its 51st season. Beginning January 14, the Box Office will be open for phone and in-person orders as well.
Since November 5, 2011, Shaw Festival Members have been ordering tickets and response to the 2012 season has been excellent, with strong sales on the Festival Theatre stage in particular.
Executive Director Colleen Blake noted “Excitement for the 2012 season is palpable here at The Shaw. The sets, props and wardrobe departments are in full swing and rehearsals begin next month. We’re delighted to open the Box Office to the public and look forward to building on the positive trend established by our Members.”
The Shaw has customized pricing for students, seniors, those under 30 and, new this year, those under 40. Patrons can access this special pricing throughout the 2012 season. There are also early ordering savings of up to 15% on regular weekday spring and fall performances and over 30% for preview performances. New for 2012, patrons buying tickets from January 9 to April 9 will receive complimentary wine tasting vouchers from Peller Estates and Hillebrand Wineries – a $28 value for two people – allowing patrons to sample world-class wines as part of their theatre experience in Niagara wine country.
The Shaw Festival’s 51st season begins April 10, 2012, runs until October 28, 2012 and features eleven compelling productions on the Festival’s four Niagara-on-the-Lake stages. Bernard Shaw’s provocative quest for the truth remains at the heart of the Festival and is featured in two plays this season: The Millionairess, Shaw’s social comedy; and Misalliance, Shaw’s delightful comedy about family, courtship, marriage and sex. The season’s playbill will also include productions of the Tony award-winning Ragtime, Noël Coward’s hilarious Present Laughter, and the mad-cap comedy His Girl Friday. A Man and Some Women, Hedda Gabler, Trouble in Tahiti, French Without Tears, Come Back, Little Sheba and Helen’s Necklace are also featured.
The Shaw Festival also offers a variety of ‘beyond-the-stage’ activities that include backstage tours, a Leonard Bernstein Sing-Along, acting and hat-making workshops as well as three - and four-day seminars which allow you to immerse yourself in the theatrical experience. Affordable overnight and day packages are also available making a trip to The Shaw easy and enjoyable.

The Festival Theatre Box Office and Bernard’s, the Shaw Festival Shop, are located at 10 Queen’s Parade in Niagara-on-the-Lake. To best serve our patrons, the Box Office will be open
Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning January 3. It will also be open Sunday, January 8 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
