Toronto, January 18, 2012 – Pandemic Theatre is thrilled to present the premiere of its ninth feature production and sixth original work as part of its 2011-12 Season of Violence, THE LOST SAGAS OF TJORVI THE FLACCID.
TJORVI THE FLACCID, written by JIV PARASRAM (Ali & Ali: The Deportation Hearings, Cahoots/Neworld/Factory Theatre) is the epic and farcical tale of the trials and tribulations of an insecure Viking warlord. At once hilarious and insightful, TJORVI THE FLACCID takes an exacting look at society’s obsession with power and libido, focusing on themes of colonialism, gender identity and racial distinctions.
With original drafts and readings under the guidance of Governor General’s Award-winning playwright, DJANET SEARS (Harlem Duet), Pandemic’s rendition features an outstanding host of talent, including MARCEL DRAGONIERI (The Travelling Salesman, Best of Toronto Fringe 2011), RYLAN O’REILLY (For Better or For Worse, CTV) and OMAR HADY (Homegrown, SummerWorks 2010), with original lighting design by CAMERON DAVIS (‘Art’, Canadian Stage).
Directed by ALEX RUBIN, co-writer and director of Pandemic’s fall smash hit, Murder on Ossington, hailed by critics as it played to a SOLD OUT three-week run.
TJORVI THE FLACCID will mark Pandemic's 2012 debut after its January guest speaking appearance at TEDxRideauCanal in Ottawa.
