Monday, February 13th, 2012, Toronto, ON. (bracket) Theatre Company presents the world premiere of the outrageous new comedy Frances and Marybeth by Neale Kimmel. Directed by Heather Keith, the show will run from Thursday, March 8th, 2012 to Sunday, March 18th, 2012 at Factory Theatre Studio.
Frances has just had a life moment. What's a life moment? She's not entirely sure, but she is now determined to get herself off the couch, forget about her cheating ex-fiance and throw the ultimate date night. And, she's dragging her younger sister Marybeth, an artist who sells her paint by numbers on Craigslist, along for the ride. With the handsome Spanish man Frances picks up at the grocery store, and Marybeth's Craigslist boyfriend due to arrive any minute, an unexpected party crasher makes the evening a little more colourful than they had expected.
Director Heather Keith has a particular interest in developing new work and among others directed the premiere of a short piece entitled Table For Six in Nightwood Theatre’s New Blood Cabaret. Playwright Neale Kimmel’s two comedies Frances and Marybeth (Act 1) and Letting Go were produced at Alumnae Theatre’s New Ideas Festival in 2011, which prompted theatromania.ca to declare Neale a “promising Canadian talent”.
Frances and Marybeth features talented Toronto actors Jesse Bond, Carolyn Hall, Meaghen Quinn, David Ross, and making his stage debut, musician and Gemini nominated MuchMore host Matt Wells.
(bracket) Theatre is an independent theatre company founded by Heather Keith and Neale Kimmel, two ladies with the goal of producing female driven stories that bring exciting new voices and faces to Toronto audiences.
