Silent Protagonist, Toronto Fringe Festival, St. Vladimir’s Theatre, Toronto

July 4-13, 2013

This fairy tale for adults tackles the topic of people made homeless by the overdevelopment of Toronto's downtown core. A street kid named Ash (Graeme Black Robinson) learns of a magical place in Toronto filled with warmth and plenty that one can find only by making a perilous journey through an abandoned subway tunnel inhabited by man-eating goblins, crows and trolls.

With great imagination and skill, the company uses mime, music, masks and puppetry to tell its tale. The three performers ( Black, Scott Garland and Amy Marie Wallace) engage us so successfully in Ash's quest, it's frustrating that the show ends just when we want to know more about his fate.
