Toronto: Get ready to clap your hands and tap your toes, because at the Toronto Fringe Festival we’ve got plenty of musical events to get you moving in your seat and dancing in the street. Whether you’re looking for something for the whole family at FringeKids! or a night of comedy and Vaudeville, Fringe 2012 has it.
With Toronto Fringe successes like The Drowsy Chaperone going on to grace Broadway stages, this could be your chance to see the next big hit—and with ticket prices this good you won’t want to miss it! From heartbreaking journeys of love and triumph, to musical comedies and a ROCKgarden party, you’ll have trouble choosing just one.
This year’s musical line-up includes shows like With Somebody Who Loves Me: A Gay Dansical, which follows Manny’s search to mend his broken heart; How I Lost One Pound, The Musical, a collection of songs and monologues about freeing ourselves from the body as measured by the scale; 21 Days, the story of Julie’s last 21 days on earth before dying and her chance at true love; ROCKgarden Party: An Interactive Children’s Musical, a musical that will ask you to suspend your disbelief, harness your imagination, tune in and enter the garden with SkaterDude and his friends; and so many more that will have you humming hours after you leave the theatre.
So if you’re looking for an escape from the hot summer sun or a fun night out at the theatre, there are plenty of musical events to check out at our Fringe venues across the city. For the perfect family friendly afternoon, join us at the Fringe Club on July 14 for a FringeKids! concert with Jack Grunsky. He’ll be performing his danceable songs at our outdoor stage from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. If you haven’t had enough for one day, stick around the Artist Alley to hear local acoustic performances during our Open Mic entertainment from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. each night. While you’re there, take a seat and enjoy a drink in the Fringe tent with fellow Fringers and music lovers.
