Stewart Arnott (Vincent River, The Swearing Jar (Prairie Theatre Exchange), Tuesdays With Morrie) directs Don Allison (The Fifth Option (SummerWorks), 'LBJ' in The Kennedys (History Channel)) Benjamin Clost (The Lion King (Chicago), My Fellow Creatures (Dora Nomination)),
Miranda Edwards ( 'da kink in my hair (Mirvish), La Ronde (Soulpepper), Cyrus Lane (Twelve Angry Men (Soulpepper), Passion Play (Dora Award) and Christopher Stanton ( Assassins; New Electric Ballroom (Dora Award)) in Will Eno's TRAGEDY: a tragedy for the SummerWorks Festival 2014 at the Lower Ossington Theatre.
The cast is supported by the design talents of Jackie Chau, set and costumes, Christopher Stanton, sound, and Mikael Kangas, lighting.
Will Eno is a brilliant, controversial American playwright who is rather an unknown in Canada. This despite the fact that his work has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize (Thom Paine (based on nothing)) and he has had a play running on Broadway this summer (The Realistic Joneses). Charles Isherwood of the NY Times has called him “a Samuel Beckett for the Jon Stewart generation.” We're very excited to be bringing his singular voice to the SummerWorks Festival in August.
The sun has set - possibly forever. 3 reporters and an anchorman are throwing questions and commentary at the catastrophe, but as night deepens, they begin to lose their grip. But there was a witness... A witty, mournful and slyly absurd meditation on apocalypse.
