Stage Door News
Pierre-Aimé embodies a modern fable, that of his destitute family. Local fishermen searching for red pearls are swallowed up by a lake ready to devour everyone and the day that his sister also disappears, the young man invents a machine that will allow him to find her. His story is one of fraternal love, friendship and self-esteem, and one where humour and dreams enable him to cope with a terrible reality.
A Canadian playwright with an international reputation, Daniel Danis has once again written a script where each word is an image. By means of photography and interactive video projection, his beautifully archaic language is brought to life with dynamic staging and highly physical acting. Performed recently to acclaim in Montréal, La scaphandrière is, to quote Michelle Chanonat (Jeu), “balm for the soul, a necessary lightness, a few minutes of tenderness in a world of savage brutes”.
