Toronto, December 20, 2012 – Tango Co. is thrilled to announce the May 2013 world premiere of The Biographer, a play by 2012 CBC Literary Award grand prize winner Daniel Karasik, directed by nationally celebrated director Alan Dilworth, who will also direct for Soulpepper Theatre Company in 2013 and whose credits include the Governor General's Award-winning If We Were Birds at Tarragon Theatre.
Mysterious and gently poetic, The Biographer is the story of a father searching for
his daughter amid the wreckage of an abandoned seaside carnival where he believes she disappeared, and a meditation on the ways we redeem ourselves -- or fail to -- through the stories we tell ourselves about our lives.
Previewing Thursday, May 2 and Friday, May 3, opening Saturday, May 4, The Biographer will run until Sunday, May 19 at the hot new Kensington Market performance venue Videofag, curated by leading young Toronto artists Jordan Tannahill and William Ellis.
Tango Co., established in 2005, is a professional theatre company devoted to bringing fresh narrative drama of the highest calibre to Toronto audiences. Our past triumphs include last spring's The Innocents, the Jury Prize-winning In Full Light at the 2007 SummerWorks Theatre Festival, and 2009’s The Crossing Guard, recently published by Playwrights Canada Press.
