Toronto, 13 April 2012… The Toronto Operetta Theatre’s 27th Season comes to a close with TOPSY TURVYDOM, three concerts featuring the greatest hits from Gilbert & Sullivan. This fun-filled presentation is full to the brim with true English Operetta at its very finest. TOPSY-TURVYDOM, scheduled for performances on April, 27, 28 & 29, 2012 at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, will be an epic ode to the tongue-twisting glitter of several of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most stunning scores. With favourites from the far off fairyland of IOLANTHE, the oh so serious buffoonery of THE MIKADO and THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, the gaiety of THE GONDOLIERS, and the satirical seafaring satire of HMS PINAFORE.
Headlining the event will be G&S baritone David Ludwig, who was last seen with TOT as The Modern Major General, in last season’s sell-out production of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE! Soprano Elizabeth Beeler will join us once again, previously seen this season as Countess Stasi in Kálmán’s THE GYPSY PRINCESS. First Nations Mezzo-soprano Marion Newman makes her TOT debut as several of Gilbert and Sullivan’s ‘maids of all work’, joined by fellow debutants Leslie Ann Bradley and Christopher Mayell, as the fair maid and her swain. Baritone Jeffrey Sanders rounds out the cast for this G & S extravaganza with Nicole Bellamy as Music Director
