Performance Dates: September 14, 2012 – October 6, 2012
Auditions will be held at the Village Playhouse, 2190 Bloor Street West, at the following times:
Saturday, June 09: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Monday, June 11: 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
(Rehearsals will start in July)
Cast:
Beadseller: (may be doubled with McNaught) – pushy, persistent
Steward: always smiling and amiable
Miss ffoliot-ffoulkes: 60+ –snobbish, bad-tempered
Christina Grant: 20’s –sensible young woman with amazingly equitable temper
Smith: 20s - scruffy upper-class revolutionary
Louise: 20s – faintly insolent French maid
Dr. Bessner: 40+ – earnest, serious, intellectual
Kay Mostyn: mid 20s –rich, assured manner of one born to command
Simon Mostyn: late 20s - good–tempered, a simple, hearty manner
Canon Pennefather: 50+ – imposing cleric, the voice of conscience
Jacqueline de Severac: 20s – goes from cool and composed to highly dramatic
McNaught: 40+ - efficient, but out of his depth (may be doubled with Beadseller)
British upper-class accents preferred for all characters except: Beadseller & Steward (Middle-Eastern), Jacqueline (French or British), Louise (French), Christina (Scottish or British), McNaught (Scottish), Dr. Bessner (German)
Please prepare a short (2 minutes) monologue and be prepared to read from the play. Please bring a résumé and headshot – a photocopy will do. You should read the play before auditioning. The script is on reserve at the Performing Arts Desk, 5th floor, Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge Street.
