Toronto, ON (May 1, 2012) – Cue6 Productions presents the premiere of new Canadian play PIECES by Sarah Illiatovitch-Goldman and starring Rosemary Dunsmore, a revolutionary show about love and betrayal, and about the different ways a life can be put back together – once it has gone to pieces.
One of only 3 plays in Canada short-listed for the RBC Tarragon Emerging Playwright’s Competition, PIECES takes Toronto theatre in an entirely new direction – or 120 new directions, to be precise. Between flashbacks that trace the history of a man, Jim, and his relationship with two women – Susan and Jodi – a crisis of the present day unfolds. Jodi’s arrival on Jim and Susan’s doorstep throws their ordered world into chaos, in a series of scenes that tell a chronological story no matter which order they are arranged in. Before each show, the script’s sequence is randomly drawn, allowing for 120 different stories to be told.
“While we in life know who we are and what we want, a lot of our journey is out of our control,” says PIECES writer Sarah Illiatovitch-Goldman. “What is interesting is how people handle the situations they find themselves in and that is what one gets to witness watching PIECES.” Audiences will have a chance to see a different story unfold during each performance of the 3-week run, and will behold the remarkable agility, skill and stamina of the actors in PIECES, as each night they perform a new show – which has been drawn for them only 30 minutes beforehand.
PIECES is in many ways a tribute to the unique possibilities and advantages of live theatre. Each performance is a new and shared experience for the artists and the audience. Since the play changes every night, each performance is ephemeral.
PIECES has an all-star cast of Rosemary Dunsmore (Dora and Actra award-winner and 2-time Gemini nominee) as Susan, Jim Downing (Talk Radio, Rock ‘n’ Roll) as Jim, and Allison Price (award-winning comedienne and member of Second City’s National Touring Company) as Jodi.
Director Jill Harper (The Guilty Party – Cue6 Productions, The Fox Sisters – The Quickening Theatre, films This December and Guns and Waffles) leads these amazing artists in creating an entirely unique production – the most daring on a Toronto stage this year!

ABOUT THE COMPANY
Founded by Sarah Illiatovitch-Goldman and Jillian Harper in 2008, Cue6 Productions is a company that does not restrict work by style, era, or medium but instead searches for work that excites and provokes its creative team. Cue6 Productions believes that doing this will translate to exciting and provoking its audiences. Cue6 Productions has a continued emphasis on emerging artists: fostering new artists and developing new work both in theatre and film. While they do not limit themselves to only this area, it is a priority to always have at least one new piece in development.
