Queen of Puddings Music Theatre welcomes Claire Speed as General Manager.
Claire has over 20 years’ experience in the not-for-profit Performing Arts and Education sectors, both in Canada and internationally. She holds a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University and a Master’s Degree in Music from the University of Toronto. Her Master's research, conducted across the U.K., examined the outreach programs of symphony orchestras and their impact on schools and communities. Recently, Claire completed an MBA at the Schulich School of Business with a focus on Arts and Media and Nonprofit Management.
Most significant in Claire’s career is her time managing high profile projects at the National Arts Centre (NAC) in Ottawa. As Director of Music Education and Community Engagement, she was a key contributor to two corporate strategic plans. Claire directed extensive outreach programs on tours of the NAC Orchestra and launched cutting edge programs to make educational resources available to a broad audience. She has travelled with the Orchestra to the U.S., Mexico, Great Britain, Europe, China, Japan and Israel. Her international experience extends to South America where she taught music for two years at Colegio Nueva Granada in Bogota, Colombia.
Claire has been formally recognized and awarded on several occasions for excellence in her work, including a nomination for the Y Women of Distinction Award for Arts, Culture and Heritage, and the Maestro Award for excellence in leadership at the National Arts Centre. From 2006-2009, Claire was an executive member of the Coalition for Music Education in Canada.
Artistic producer, Nathalie Bonjour will continue working with Queen of Puddings in a freelance capacity as the producer of our upcoming European and Canadian tours of SVADBA-WEDDING and our Toronto concerts.
