TORONTO, ONTARIO - Hart House Theatre and the U of T Drama Coalition are proud to present the U of T Drama Coalition's Drama Festival: A Weekend of Competitive Theatre. The four nights of original one-act plays, features students from multiple colleges on the three U of T campuses and runs February 13-16, 2013.
Over 70 years since its inception, the U of T Drama Festival provides a showcase for up-and-coming theatrical talent from the university's three campuses. Now in the 21st year since its revival, the festival is proud to continue the tradition of only accepting original student written plays; serving as a much needed outlet for U of T playwrights. The festival serves as an accessible avenue for U of T students to perform, direct and express their flair for the dramatic on the historic Hart House Theatre stage. It also provides an opportunity for aspiring members of the U of T drama community to get started in the professional sphere as many scripts have gone on to have further productions and the Festival boasts a variety of famous individuals as alumni. Among them are Donald Sutherland, film director Arthur Hiller, as well as several well-known stage actors.
This years festival will be adjudicated by Derek Boyes. Derek is an associate artist of Soulpepper Theatre and has finished his 9th season appearing in You Can't Take it With You and The Crucible.
