Stage Door News
The second half of the French Theatre season opens with another story of childhood. In that sense, spectators who liked Le grand cahier will love Rouge décanté, a very moving multimedia piece that plunges into the very depths of the human soul. With his slightly amplified voice, Dirk Roofthooft conveys minute nuances of intimacy. Magnified by live video, his distorted image provides an opening into the subconscious, shedding light within.
A famous novel by Jeroen Brouwers adapted for the stage, Rouge décanté (Sunken Red) has since toured the world in four languages. The French version, created in 2006, was a huge success at the FTA in 2007, and critics have been unanimous in their praise: “Striking visual effects”, a “remarkable performance”, an “austere and poignant” play.
