The annual James Reaney Memorial Lecture will be presented by actor and director David Ferry this year.
The free event, called “Directing Reaney”, will be held in the auditorium of the Stratford Public Library on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2:30 p.m.
During his talk, Ferry will discuss his experiences directing the work of the well-known poet and playwright.
Since Reaney’s death in 2008, the annual lecture has been a way to honour his writing and teaching legacy.
Reaney was born on a farm in South Easthope Township near Stratford. During his career, he won three Governor General’s Awards. The Stratford Festival will produce Alice Through the Looking Glass next season -- Reaney's adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s book.
Ferry was one of the original cast members of the 1973 production of Reaney’s The Donnellys Part I, Sticks and Stones at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto. He recently directed the play at Bishop's University.
