Join us at the Dufferin County Museum & Archives this Saturday, October 5th and/or Sunday, October 6th and help us celebrate 20 years!
For 20 years, Dufferin County Museum & Archives, Theatre Orangeville and In The Hills magazine have been presenting and preserving stories that shape our lives and our community.
Please come and join us for a fabulous weekend of celebration at the Museum during the Headwaters Arts Festival to salute two decades of collaboration and innovations, and to forge into the future.
**Admission is FREE for the weekend (though donations to the Museum and Theatre are always welcome).
Saturday, October 6 - 10 am to 4 pm (a light lunch will be served)
10 am - Opening of event with Museum Curator Wayne Townsend, Theatre Orangeville Artistic Director David Nairn, and In The Hills magazine Publisher/Editor Signe Ball.
10:30 am - Artifact display/disucssion with Wayne Townsend.
11 am - Ken Weber, best selling author and Historic Hills Columnist and Puzzle Meister for In The Hills magazine talks about "Twenty years of historical smiles and wonder."
11:30 am - Theatre Orangeville's "Founders / Keepers" - a play about the founding of Orangeville, written in honour of the Town's sesquicentennial.
1 pm - Lily Frost, the celebrated singer/songwriter who NOW called "mesmerizing" performs favourites from among her eight albums. http://lilyfrost.com
1:30 pm - Artifact display/discussion with Sarah Robinson.
2 pm - Cathy Elliott, the First Nations' singer, actor and musical theatre composer and director performs songs from the stage. http://www.playwrightsguild.ca/playwright/cathy-Elliott
2:30 pm - T.O.Y.S., a reunion performance by some of the original members of Theatre Orangeville's amazing youth choir.
3 pm - Dan Needles, the Wingfield Series playwright and In The Hills columnist presents his reflections on life in Dufferin County.
3:30 pm - Artifact display/discussion with Steve Brown.
Sunday, October 7 - 10 am to 4 pm (a light lunch will be served)
10 am - Opening of event with Museum Curator Wayne Townsend, Theatre Artistic Director David Nairn and In The Hills Publisher/Editor Signe Ball.
10:30 am - Artifact display/discussion with Wayne Townsend.
11 am - Sarah Robinson, the champion step dance kicks up her heels.
1 pm - Will Devonshire, the superb Orton-based composer and songwriter performs classical guitar.
1:30 pm - Artifact display/discussion.
2 pm - Anniversary Cupcakes!
2:30 pm - Dinah Christie, the singer, comedienne, playwright and television host performs some of her favourite songs. http://www.inthehills.ca/2012/09/back/dinah-christie-popcorn-pauline-skinny-dipping/
3 pm - Artifact display/discussion
4 pm - Candescence, the all-female a cappella quartet sings classic and contemporary favourites in a special concert in the historic Corbetton Church on the museum grounds. (There is a small charge for this concert).
