Tickets are now on sale for Birth of Frankenstein, the newest site-specific play by acclaimed indie company Litmus Theatre. Litmus has a history of staging sold-out shows in unexpected venues across the city, just in time for Halloween. In October of 2010 and 2011, Litmus staged the critically acclaimed Matchbox Macbeth in a ramshackle shed at the end of a dark alley – and both runs sold out before opening night.
With only forty seats in their new gothic venue, The Parlour Room of St. Luke’s United Church, Birth of Frankenstein is sure to be one of the hottest tickets this fall. This new Canadian play, co-written by the three founding members of the company, tells the story about how Mary Shelley came to write, and be consumed by, one of the most famous monsters of all time. Birth of Frankenstein takes you through the looking glass and into the Waking Dreams of an 18-year old girl with big ideas and more than her share of love, loss and scandal.
Litmus Theatre was founded in 2009 by Filipino-Canadian stage and screen actor Adriano Sobretodo Jr., acclaimed indie theatre director/producer Matthew Thomas Walker, and Toronto Fringe Communications Manager Claire Wynveen after all three completed the intensive MFA Acting program at York University.
This fall, slip into an immersive world with the acclaimed indie company that brought you Matchbox Macbeth - a world where graves are robbed, men are made immortal, and all laws of nature are broken.
