Stuck in the Mud Theatre is excited to present Warriors by Michel Garneau opening at the LiveFive Festival in Saskatoon November 14 to 24, 2013 and running in Toronto November 28 to December 8, 2013 at Ernest Balmer Studio.
Pushing their intellectual, moral, and even physical boundaries, two ad-men are hired to pitch the perfect slogan for the biggest moneymaker in history: The Army. Gilles and Paul risk more than just their careers in this biting satire about the business of war. Written towards the end of the Cold War, Warriors tackles the ethics, morality and necessity of marketing the military. The show runs at 75 minutes with no intermission.
Directed by Eli Ham, the cast features Alden Adair and Geoffrey Pounsett. It is Stage Managed by Heather Bellingham, as well as Sound Designed by Brendan McKenna and Projection Designed/Photographed by Sandi Lauzon. Producers on board are Emma Letki and Robin Taylor Wright.
Since being established in 2001, Stuck in the Mud Productions has been actively engaged in many aspects of the theatre community. Our name is derived from an occasion when founding members Eli Ham and Mike Ledermueller literally got stuck in the mud loading set pieces onto a pickup truck. For the love of theatre! Ledermueller is now Technical Director of Soulpepper Theatre and Ham is now a professional actor, director, and dramaturge.
In the fall of 2008 we began a reading series called “Un-Stuck” to provide a forum for playwrights to re-visit old (or new) work which has stalled for whatever reason. Our goal this project is to see if we can help the re-focus the writer on the story they want to tell and clarify their way of getting there. In 2010 we staged a critically acclaimed version of Sky Gilbert's The Emotionalists. Most recently, we work-shopped Keith Barker's new script This is How we Got to Here as part of the SpringWorks festival in Stratford, Ontario.
