After opening to the season’s best reviews and playing to wildly enthusiastic capacity crowds, Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Boublil & Schönberg's masterpiece LES MISÉRABLES is extending its limited Toronto engagement by six more weeks. LES MISÉRABLES will now play until February 2, 2014 at the Princess of Wales Theatre. This will be the production’s final extension.
Tickets to the new performance period will go on sale to Mirvish subscribers on Monday, November 4th, to American Express card members on Wednesday, November 6th and to the general public on Wednesday, November 13th. Performances for this limited-engagement run began on September 27, 2013. Starring a cast of mostly Canadian actors, this production received ecstatic reviews for the new generation of Canadian artists reinterpreting these iconic roles and for the bold reimagining of this classic musical by an equally bold creative team led by directors Laurence Connor and James Powell.
This new production, which was created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of LES MISÉRABLES, continues to break box office records internationally and inspired filmmakers to make the successful film adaptation, which won 3 Oscars, 3 Golden Globes and 4 BAFTA’s. The motion picture soundtrack has sold close to 1.5 million copies and has topped the Billboard and iTunes charts.

Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, LES MISÉRABLES is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of LES MISÉRABLES includes the classic songs “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Stars,” “Bring Him Home,” “Do You Hear the People Sing?” “One Day More,” “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables,” “Master of the House” and many more.
Cameron Mackintosh’s production of LES MISÉRABLES is written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg and is based on the novel by Victor Hugo. It has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, adaption by Trevor Nunn and John Caird and additional material by James Fenton. The original LES MISÉRABLES orchestrations are by John Cameron, with new orchestrations by Christopher Jahnke and additional orchestrations by Stephen Metcalfe and Stephen Brooker.
The new production is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell, designed by Matt Kinley, inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo, with costumes by Andreane Neofitou and Christine Rowlands, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Mick Potter and projections by Fifty-Nine Productions.
