Toronto, ON - Wednesday, November 6 Critically acclaimed Director, and Co-Artistic Director of Sterling Studio Theatre Collective, Angela Besharah (Director for SSTC; By a Thread, The Bear, Echoes, other directorial works include The Keeper’s Secret) brings her seventh world premiere of an original Canadian work to the stage for You Said Love, a play Atom Egoyan calls “sexy and provocative”, with a production that will keep you at the edge of your seat.
When two couples come together on the stormy West coast of Vancouver Island, lines between love and lust are pushed, pulled, and broken. It gets fun, it gets awkward, and it gets dirty. As each of the four tries to navigate their relationships they take unexpected paths that could lead to true love or heartbreak or both.
Television star and recent Canadian Screen Award and multiple Leo nominee, Benjamin Ayes (Film & TV: Saving Hope (CTV), Seed (CityTV), Less Than Kind (HBO), Dan for Mayor (CTV); for stage: Tench in the world premiere of Raul Inglis’s In The Eyes of God, Surveillance, Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll, Lion In The Streets and Miss Julie) makes his Toronto stage debut as Andrew in You Said Love. He is joined by Ashleigh Rains (Film & TV: Bitten (eOne), Flashpoint (CTV/CBS), The Last Supper (Dark Hope Ent.), Dan for Mayor (CTV), Murdoch Mysteries (CBC), Warehouse 13 (SyFy); for stage: This Is For You, Anna (Cranes Performance Group), upcoming in SSTC season; Anna in Burn This) as Julie, Jessica Salgueiro (Film & TV: Remedy (Shaw Media), The Unleashed (Dark House Films), Home Away (Temple Street Prod.); for stage: The Trial of Ken Gass, Anton in Show Business (Rhizoma Productions), Charge of the Expormidable Moose (One Little Goat/Tarragon Theatre), In Adagio) as Lisa, and playwright Noah Davis (Film & TV: Defiance, Murdoch Mysteries, The Arrow & The String, Mayday; for theatre: Different (Beaumont Studios), Tosca, The Magic Flute (LA Opera), Children of the Night, Lost & Found in the Underground (The Company of Angels), Echoes (SSTC), and his own play Point No Point (Chainsaw Theatre/Tarragon) as Brad. Double Juno nominee and Polaris Prize nominee, Erik Arnesen, of the bands Great Lake Swimmers and Siskiyou, will be creating the soundtrack that will include original compositions.
