Canadian actor Paul Nolan, who made his Main Stem debut in the 2012 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, joins the Broadway cast of the Tony Award-winning musical Once.
Nolan succeeds Arthur Darvill ("Dr. Who") as Guy on Dec. 17.
Nolan joins British actress Joanna Christie, who stars as Girl. The cast also features Adam Wesley Brown, Laurel Griggs, David Patrick Kelly, Jillian Lebling, Katrina Lenk, Brandon McGibbon, Anne L. Nathan, Andy Taylor, Carlos Valdes, Erikka Walsh, Paul Whitty and J. Michael Zygo.
Once is directed by John Tiffany (Black Watch), with movement by Steven Hoggett (Black Watch, American Idiot) and music supervision and orchestrations by Martin Lowe (Mamma Mia!). It won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical. Once premiered on Broadway in March 2012 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.
Once continues its West End run at the Phoenix Theatre, where it opened in April. The musical launched a U.S. national tour earlier this fall.
The production has set and costume design by Tony Award winner Bob Crowley (The Coast of Utopia, Mary Poppins). Lighting design is by Tony winner Natasha Katz (Aida, The Coast of Utopia), and sound design is by Clive Goodwin.
