When RIVERDANCE premiered, it created a new genre of performance: the dance musical. As everyone knows, the show went on to conquer the world, touring for over 20 years and still going strong. Now, the producers of RIVERDANCE have created a new show that is as revelatory and as spectacular as RIVERDANCE.
HEARTBEAT OF HOME had its premiere in Dublin this past October and is due to cross the Atlantic in January when it has its North American debut at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre on January 21, 2014
PBS TV will take you behind the scenes and show the creation of HEARTBEAT OF HOME in a new 40-minute TV documentary that follows the journey of the stage show, from its earliest stages of development through to its world premiere.
The Making of Heartbeat of Home - A Dream Voyage follows the casting of world-class dancers though an online talent search and goes into the rehearsal rooms with choreographers David Bolder and John Carey as they bring the multi cultural fusion of Irish, Latin and Afro-Cuban dance together and the creation of spectacular dance numbers. Interviewed will be HEARTBEAT OF HOME key creative team members: director John McColgan, composer Brian Byrne, lyricists and writer Joseph O'Connor and producer Moya Doherty.
