Starring Toronto’s darling actor and comedian Ennis Esmer (The Listener, The LA Complex, Young People Fucking), veteran film, television and stage performer Mayko Nguyen (Rookie Blue, Cracked) alongside David Reale (Suits, SplinterCell: Blacklist) and, fresh from her run of Ross Petty’s Snow White, Bryn McAuley, CLAIRE FROM THE BUS is a hilariously harrowing tale of sex, deceit and “Seriously. How old is she?”
Like many of us living in the age of constant real-time connectivity, Ralph (Esmer) doesn’t always think before he acts. Like Ralph, maybe you’ve texted a picture you shouldn’t have. Maybe one of your Skype sessions got a little heated. Maybe your privacy settings aren’t so private. Maybe, a girl that you met on the bus (McAuley) is going to turn your 31st birthday into 24-hours of devilishly orchestrated sexual blackmail that calls into question your grasp of morality, fidelity and certainly the actual age of your coquettish aggressor. Maybe.
The world premiere of CLAIRE, FROM THE BUS will be the final show in a series of inaugural Showcases for Toronto’s newest venue The Storefront Theatre (955 Bloor Street West). The Storefront Theatre is multi-disciplinary hub, dedicated to the support of local independent artists. This new venue promises to provide a program of live entertainment from innovative local artists in the months of early 2013.
