Théâtre français de Toronto is pleased to present Le Temps des muffins by Joël da Silva. Directed by and starring the playwright himself, this wonderfully poetic French language play for young audiences will be on stage at the Berkeley Street Theatre on Saturday, April 13.
While preparing his muffins, a chef bakes up stories as images and games appear out of nowhere. He cooks words just like a magician: he lays his own eggs and makes his own Get-Big-Soup! He waits for us in the privacy of his kitchen where objects come to life. A true delight for the imagination!
Since his first solo show, La Nuit blanche de Barbe-Bleue (1989), Joël da Silva has continued writing for young audiences, strange tales making use of the senses and sounds. In 1999, he founded the company Le Théâtre Magasin. He advocates for a strictly playful theatre, relating both to children and adults.
A creation of Théâtre Magasin (Montréal).
Written, directed and performed by Joel da Silva. Artistic Advisor: Serge Marois. Staging and sound design, puppets and accessories: Joel da Silva. Manipulation of objects and puppets: Jean Cummings and Patrick Beauchemin. Lights: Martin Boisjoly. Régie du son and lighting: Martin Boisjoly or Nancy Bussières. Patine du décor: Claude Rodrigue. Sound Recording: Benoit Brodeur. Couture: Mathilde da Silva.
