TORONTO, ON… Nina Lee Aquino and Nigel Shawn Williams, Factory Theatre Co-Artistic Directors, and Sara Meurling, Managing Director, are pleased to announce Factory Theatre’s four-play 2013/14 subscription season, sponsored by BMO Financial Group.
The Factory Theatre 2013/14 season opener is a co-production with Obsidian Theatre Company, the World Premiere of THE GRAVITATIONAL PULL OF BERNICE TRIMBLE, by Beth Graham (co-creator of the successful Drowning Girls), playing in the Mainspace Theatre, November 2 – December 1, 2013. In Graham’s heartbreaking but humorous portrait of a family in crisis, Iris struggles with life, family and the unwieldy laws of the universe.
Playing March 1 – 30, 2014 in the Mainspace Theatre is the World Premiere of Priscila Uppal’s 6 ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS. A daughter is reunited with the mother who abandoned her and discovers “some dreams are meant to die.” Priscila Uppal is an internationally-celebrated Canadian poet, novelist and the 2012 Canadian Olympics poet laureate. 6 ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS is her first play.
Playing April 12 – May 11, 2014 in the Studio Theatre is the World Premiere of the stage version of BEATRICE & VIRGIL by Yann Martel, adapted by Lindsay Cochrane. This haunting tale is an innovative theatrical adaptation of Martel’s controversial but critically-acclaimed novel about horrific truths, buried in layers of history and unearthed through fact, art and imagination. BEATRICE & VIRGIL is produced in collaboration with Canada’s National Arts Centre.
Daniel MacIvor’s award-winning BINGO! is the closing production of the 2013/14 season, May 3 – June 1, 2014, in the Mainspace Theatre. In this alcohol and nostalgia-fueled romantic comedy, five forty-something friends reconnect at their 30th high school reunion and all hell breaks loose. BINGO! is a play about wasted days and wasted nights.
Subscription packages range from $50 - $150, with savings up to 46% off regular single ticket prices. Subscribers also enjoy priority reserved seating for Mainspace shows and a special Partner Coupon Book with a value of over $300.
