Celebrating its third year, The reConnexion Collective proudly presents Uth Daze 2013 on May 25th and 26th at Toronto’s Artscape Wychwood Barns.
Launching with pOP-UP ART on May 25: live performances by youth and emerging artists including award winning poet Lishai Peel. On May 26, the All Day Experience features visual art including TREAD ON IT! a workshop using recycled car parts with Jeff Mann, performances including Sara Farb, Akiva Romer-Segal & Colleen Dauncey’s Bremen Rock City musical, and multi-art workshops for ages 3-13. The Uth Mainstage will bring out a 14+ audience for The Burning, a new play by Soothemysisters Productions, followed by the Festival Wrap Party!
Uth Daze 2013 features 50+ artists of all ages and experience levels who are passionate about one thing: bringing exceptional & inventive art to young people. The array of artists and activities include: Shakespeare workshops with actor Marcel Stewart, stilt walking by Swizzlestick Theatre, face painting with Christopher Pinheiro and more. The reConnexion Collective creates opportunities and empowers youth through the performing arts in different GTA neighbourhoods. reConnexion has partnered on projects with the City of Toronto, NIA Centre for the Arts, b current, Art Starts, the Children’s Aid Society and more. Exciting past projects include Fresh Wednesdays, Uth Connexions workshop series, and the very successful Trips2Shows project.
