April 9, 2013. Toronto, Ontario... Angelwalk Theatre, the producers of the Dora-nominated Toronto premieres of Altar Boyz and [title of show], and KooGle Theatre Company, are bringing the hit Off-Broadway musical I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change to Toronto audiences for the first time in over a decade. Featuring music by Jimmy Roberts and book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro, this touching and hilarious musical comedy delves into the world of dating, love and marriage through characters that will leave audiences feeling as if they've spent an evening with friends. I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change begins performances on May 14, 2013 at the Toronto Centre for the Arts and runs until June 2. Famous for its' humour, and presented in the form of a series of vignettes connected by the central theme of love and relationships,director Evan Tsitsias offers a production that presents the characters as human and relatable. This version of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is based on the 2012 sold-out run by KooGle Theatre Company, also directed by Tsitsias, who promises returning audiences will once again be entertained. He said: "this show recaptures the essence and magic of the first production while digging even further into the characters."
I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is the second-longest running musical in Off-Broadway history, running for 12 years and over 5,000 performances. The show has enjoyed success throughout the world, with productions in over 250 different cities including Chicago, London, Tel Aviv, Sydney and Barcelona. Toronto audiences will be treated to an all-star cast directed by Evan Tsitsias, and featuring Dean Hollin, Alison O'Neill, Christopher Alan Gray and Leslie Kay.
Evan Tsitsias is no stranger to Toronto audiences. An accomplished writer and director, Tsitsias' credits include Edges and One Song Glory (Acting Up Stage), The Silent City (TO Fringe/Best of Fringe -Canstage) The Mercy Seat (Alchemy), Burn This!, Don't Tell Mama, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom (Buddies In Bad Times) and numerous summer stock productions. Evan has trained at York University, Sheridan College and has his Professional Training Certificate in Theatre of the Oppressed from London, England. He is a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, Chicago Directors Lab, the Playwrights Guild of Canada and the Tarragon Playwright's Unit, was a resident at Robert Wilson's Watermill Center in the Hamptons and is the Artistic Director of Directors Lab North.
Dean Hollin's professional career spans two decades and includes extensive work on stage, along with healthy splashes of television and radio. Dean has performed an impressive mix of both musical and non-musical roles. Dean Hollin has created/produced at least a dozen shows and/or programs celebrating the compositions and composers of the Great American Songbook including his debut CD indicative.
Alison O'Neill makes herAngelwalk debut following performances in BARE (Hart House Theatre, Canadian Premiere), Pinkalicious (LOT), Eurydice, Urinetown, and Into the Woods. She also recently lent her voice to 'Winter Forest' - an animated children's iPad application.
Christopher Alan Gray selected credits include:Inherit the Wind, The Merchant of Venice, The Sound of Music (Stratford Shakespeare Festival), Templeton in Charlotte's Web, Toad in Toad! (Theatre Aquarius), Carnes in Oklahoma!, South Pacific (Sunshine Festival), Tigers (Grand Theatre London, One-Act Festival - *Best Actor), Greg in A Chorus Line (Capitol Theatre), Romeo in Shakespeare, Love and All That Jazz (dir. John Neville), Jim Casy in The Grapes of Wrath (dir. Kelly Robinson), and King Phillip II in The Lion in Winter (dir. Tedde Moore). Film/TV: The West Wing (NBC), Duckblind (CineSiege Nominee).
Leslie Kay comes to Angelwalk Theatre after a successful run at The Burlington Performing Arts Centre with KooGle Theatre Company where she appeared in Couple of Swells, Rock Around the Clock and Broadway Moments. She has also performed with Theatre Aquarius, Sunshine Festival, St Lawrence Stage Co. and the Kawartha Lakes Summer Playhouse.
Now in its fourth season, Angelwalk Theatre is a not-for-profit professional theatre company dedicated to producing Off-Broadway musical theatre and providing opportunities for both emerging and established Canadian theatre professionals. Founded in 2009, Angelwalk Theatre has quickly established itself as a leader in producing Off-Broadway musical theatre in Toronto where it presents two shows annually as a resident company in the Studio Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. To date, Angelwalk Theatre has produced seven Off-Broadway musicals: the world premiere of Off-Broadway On Stage, the Canadian premiere of I Love You Because and Ordinary Days, the Toronto premieres of Altar Boyz and [title of show], and two musicals by Jason Robert Brown, The Last Five Years and Songs for a New World. The company has been nominated for 11 Dora Mavor Moore Awards with its production of Altar Boyz being extended and later remounted.
