Acclaimed musical theatre performer Laura Caswell (Canadian premieres of Batboy the Musical, Marvelous Wonderettes,) is taking her most incredible and insane life adventures, combining them with song and music, and bringing to the stage an evening of life lessons you never thought you’d learn.
Laura is a familiar presence in theatres across the country, and was selected to attend the prestigious Cabaret Conference at Yale University in 2011. There, Laura trained with some of the cabaret world’s top artists, including Julie Wilson, Sally Mayes, Tovah Feldshuh and Amanda McBroom. She has also been featured in the Acting UpStage Dark Night Cabaret Series in her one-woman show Tales from A Suitcase.
This one night only evening of entertainment will also be featuring two of Toronto’s most talented artists: Ryan Kelly (Living with Henry, The Normal Heart) and singer and musician Donna Garner (Buddy Holly Story, 2 Pianos 4 Hands).
Laura’s eclectic evening of pop songs, musical theatre standards, and original material is backed up by the wonderful Tara Litvack (Falsettos, Anne & Gilbert) on piano. How to Clean Your Fridge is a hilarious and touching saga of a life well learned.
“With a 1940’s sensibility and a pippy – nearly clipped – style, this is a girl who should be at least a few Dora Awards in.”
“Caswell has such a fun sensibility and knowledge of contemporary musical scores that you just want to give her a drink and a mic, put her on a gay cruise and let her everyone fall in love with her.”
