It’s important to approach an audition as a performance not a test. The joy one feels on stage needs to be brought into the audition room. To reframe a sense of powerlessness with a deeper understanding of your artistic worth is the essential ingredient to getting the job. -Kelly Thornton
Over two intensive sessions Artistic Director Kelly Thornton will lead participants in a practical exploration of audition technique and preparation. The course will help the actor solidify a contemporary speech of their choice for theatre auditions as well as equip the actor with tools to approach the “cold read”, where pertinent decisions must be made with limited time to prepare. The class will explore audition technique: presentation, attitude and focus as well as character development: moment-to-moment intention, conflict and overall arc.
When: Tues, June 11th and Wed, June 12th, 6-10pm both days
Where: Nightwood Studio, 9 Trinity Street, Studio 315, Historic Distillery District
Cost: $150 + HST ($169.50)
