Toronto, ON –Artists, start your engines! The Toronto Fringe Festival is thrilled to announce two contests that will take place as part of the Toronto Fringe’s 25th Anniversary festival. The brand new 25 Second Video Contest is now accepting submissions from smartphone wielders and professional filmmakers alike, and playwrights of all stripes and skills can register today to participate in the always-exhilarating 25 Hour Playwriting Contest!
The 25 Second Video Contest
Is it possible to pack 25 years into 25 seconds? Grab your camera or smartphone and show the world what the Toronto Fringe means to you!
Create a 25 second video – no more, no less - that captures or celebrates the Toronto Fringe. Recreate your favourite Fringe moment, define the spirit of the Fringe, or just make up something weird and Fringe-y. A micro doc, an ad, a recollection, a prediction for the next 25 years – whatever you choose to showcase your talent and show your love of all things Fringe!
All videos submissions must be received by June 28th, 2013 at 11:59 p.m.
The contest will be judged by Gideon Arthurs, General Manager at the Tarragon Theatre and former Executive Director of the Toronto Fringe. The winner will receive a $250 prize.
Submissions will be featured online at www.fringe25secondvideocontest.tumblr.com, on Toronto Fringe social media, and live at the 25th Anniversary Fringe Festival.

The 25 Hour Playwriting Contest
Registration is now open for the most anticipated playwriting contest of the summer! It’s The Toronto Fringe Festival’s 25 Hour Playwriting Contest, where 60 playwrights each attempt to write a new play in 25 hours. On July 5th at 1:00PM, four secret objects will be revealed which MUST appear in every script. Playwrights then have exactly 25 hours to write and submit their original theatrical masterpiece. All script submissions must be received by July 6th, 2013 at 2:00PM.
The winning play will be presented to the public in a free staged reading, directed by a Toronto director and featuring noted Toronto area performers, on the final night of the Fringe Festival. First place winner will be awarded a prize of $500 as well as a staged reading. Second place will be awarded $300, and third place, $150.
Find The 25 Hour Playwriting Contest Rules and Regulations and Contest Entry Form here.
Participants must pay a reading fee of $28.25 (HST inc.) in order to participate.
The contest is open to everyone except contest jury members.
