Stage Door News
We are a new rental venue in an old space, formally The Annex Theatre, we are now Neighbhourhood Theatre and we’re under new management. This space can be anything the artistic heart desires! From rehearsals to readings, productions, workshops, catered cabarets, intense incubation sessions, kids camps, industry talks, film screenings, absolutely anything – we will try to accommodate because we are officially OPEN FOR BUSINESS.
The venue seats 58 people in comfortable folding chairs for audience configuration, and the small stage can be moved to create alley seating or even theatre in the round; with two washrooms, one shower and a space for small storage, we will become a staple in the theatre community.
We charge on a sliding scale, with our regular rates capping out at $22.00 per hour plus tax. We have a basic lighting system, a basic sound system, and a projection screen. We are accepting performance rental requests for early September, and encouraging people to rent the space for rehearsals, workshops, and public readings RIGHT NOW.
The new manager is Allie Bell and she has worked in the independent theatre industry across the country as a playwright, stage manager, and producer for almost a decade. The owners of the space believe her skill set and vision can propel this venue into a memorable place for years to come.
The management encourages established companies to come perform, create, and astound audiences, but we really want to be a place that new companies can use as a platform to propel a career forward because we were once first time producers. No question is to small and we encourage people to take advantage of the knowledge behind this quirky space.
Join us for our opening event on September 7 2013 at 8pm featuring local talent and a cash bar. This is an opportunity for the community to see the space, meet the management, and become inspired by the possibilities.
