From the creator of Dr. Whom, Don’t You Forget about John Hughes and Downtown Abbey, comes Whedonesque, an improvised re-imagining of three of Joss Whedon’s most beloved shows. Director Darryl Pring has assembled the country’s most talented improvisers to help bring Joss Whedon’s beloved characters back to life. Starting at 8pm with Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog, continuing at 9:00pm with Firefly, and ending with Buffy the Vampire Slayer at 10pm, this promises to be an amazing night of both comedy and fandom.
With a cast full of Canadian Comedy Award winners, Whedonesque promises to engage both fans of Whedon’s work and newcomers alike. What if the death ray was never invented? What if Penny had survived? What if Billy had never become evil at all? Find out at 8pm in this unscripted musical tribute to Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog including musical accompaniment by Scott Christian. At 9 pm another incredible cast of Whedon fans will join forces to pay homage to his cult classic Firefly. Following a similar narrative structure to show’s most beloved episodes, watch as these improvisers create new stories and relationships with your favourite characters. Finally at 10pm the incredibly popular Buffy The Vampire Slayer returns to the stage for an hour of unscripted comedy performed by a who’s who of Canadian talent. The monsters may change but our heroine will remain as peppy as ever.
The cast includes: Rob Norman (Mantown), Alice Moran (Spank! The Fifty Shades Parody), Kris Siddiqi (Second City), Chris Gibbs (Just for Laughs) Ashley Botting (Second City), Alastair Forbes (Second City), Trevor Martin (Night of the Living Dead Live), Kirsten Rasmussen (The Sketchersons) Evany Rosen (Picnicface), Dan Beirne (Dad Drives), Nigel Downer (Second City), Sean Tabares (Dr. Whom), Craig Anderson (The Sunday Service)
