ABOUT THE THEATRE 20 EMERGING ARTIST ENSEMBLE
Theatre 20's Emerging Artist Ensemble is comprised of talented, passionate and committed up-and-coming musical theatre performers.
For the 2013-2014 Program, we will be selecting SIX (6) Emerging Artists who demonstrate promise with both talent and the drive to succeed. The Emerging Artist Ensemble is made up of those artists we believe have the potential to become established and leading members of the Canadian music theatre community. Our goal with this program is to create a dynamic group that represents all musical theatre performers in Canada, encompassing all genders and ethnicities.
Theatre 20 helps these young artists to continue to develop their craft and advises them how to best nurture their careers while providing performance opportunities and one-on-one mentorship. The Emerging Artists perform on stage at Theatre 20 events alongside our Founding Artists, as well as with other established artists from the professional theatre community.
Our Founding Artists and associate artists are mentors in Ensemble rehearsals and at performances, giving our Emerging Artists professional exposure and experience not usually found in a classroom.
In addition, the Theatre 20 Emerging Artist Ensemble works closely with our Composium, creating the opportunity for our emerging composers and book writers to develop their work by hearing it sung by brilliant young performers. This also gives our Emerging Artists a chance to connect with and experience working with the next generation of successful musical theatre writers.
Members of the Theatre 20 Emerging Artist Ensemble receive:
* Ongoing MENTORSHIP from T20 Founding Artists and other established musical theatre artists in the community;
* One-on-one MENTORSHIP - each Emerging Artist will be assigned an Individual Mentor from Theatre 20’s Artistic Board
* The OPPORTUNITY to perform a variety of repertoire with these established artists at both public and private events;
* PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE in rehearsals, workshops, performances, etc.;
* Acting, singing and career TRAINING and workshops with leading actors, choreographers, directors and teachers;
* Audition and resume coaching;
* The structure to MEET AND WORK WITH other emerging artists – performers, composers, directors, etc.
* A SAFE environment to risk, make mistakes and ask questions. The forum to try new things and find a vehicle for their voice;
* EXPOSURE to the theatre community, networking opportunities and invitations to special events.
ARTISTIC BOARD OF THEATRE 20
